RIVE - The metal wrecking, robot hacking shooter!

RIVE Revealed!

Announcing a new game is always a major event, but since it’s the first game since the Two Tribes reboot, this one is extra special for us.

We’ve been working feverishly with our new base team of just three people to be able to announce RIVE to the world.

So what did we make!? We call it RIVE and we describe it as ‘the metal wrecking, robot hacking shooter’. It’s a 2D shooter / platformer with old school gaming values in a decidedly new school execution. During the game’s intense 360 degree shooting and platforming action, players learn to alter the behavior of their robotic enemies by collecting and uploading hacks.

Please check out the announcement trailer to get an idea of what we have created. We are aiming to release RIVE on Steam and all current consoles. RIVE will be playable for the public at Gamescom next month.

Comments are welcome!

Awesome, will this also be at EGX London, and if so what consoles will it be playable on?

Leon Fletcher, Tuesday July 29 2014, 16:22

I don't think we're there. And we're aiming for all three consoles, but since we're now just with three core people, we cannot guarantee it yet.

Collin, Tuesday July 29 2014, 17:25

Darn, oh well looking forward to more info as it develops
Just wondering, but how long ago did development on RIVE first begin?

Leon Fletcher, Tuesday July 29 2014, 17:35

Early tests and prototyping started in 2013 already, but then the shit hit the fan and we couldn't really work on it until our reboot in January 2014. Then Swords & Soldiers Wii U came along, so the programming of RIVE had to wait. Once that was done in April, we could finally work full force on it

Martijn, Tuesday July 29 2014, 17:41

Yikes, well like I said, am looking forward to Rive, but first I have to finish TokiTori 2+... eventually haha
Best of luck to you all ;)

Leon Fletcher, Tuesday July 29 2014, 17:56

It's so good to see that you guys are back with a great project! Hopefully I get to check it out at GamesCom!

This looks seriously awesome. I love platform shooters, and I can't wait to play this on my Wii U.

Maniac-Norton, Tuesday August 19 2014, 13:57

Glad you liked it! We probably don't do an early access; however we do have a select number of testers that playtest the game for us. In case you're interested, send us an e-mail :D Groetjes uit Nederland :D

Hi guys, an awsome lookong game from an awsome studio. Will you give a last support for the people with Win XP for this game?

Adenin, Saturday September 27 2014, 11:28

Played this at EGX and loved the demo! Can't wait to see more.

David G, Tuesday September 30 2014, 10:36

@ADENIN It should support Win XP just fine! :)

Collin, Wednesday October 1 2014, 18:50

Great, thanks Collin, if the sys req are same as toki tori 2 it would be amazing!

Adenin, Sunday October 5 2014, 11:44

Looks great, it seems to have a SuperMeatBoy-like feel to it. I hope this will be a hard platformer like that one was.

Also: GNU/Linux version at launch, right? Please say so, please... :-)

Cyber Killer, Monday February 9 2015, 7:17
